We only collect information that helps us effectively operate the SCCO and serve our community. This may include:

Contact Information: Name, address, email, and phone number, typically collected during membership sign-ups or event registrations.
Account Information: If you join as a member, we create a secure login account (email address and password) so you can log in to manage your own membership information on our website.
Volunteering Interests: Information you provide if you express interest in volunteering for committees or events.
Communication Preferences: How you prefer to receive updates from SCCO (e.g., email, newsletter).
Financial Information: When you make a membership payment or donation, we (or our third-party payment processor) collect necessary billing information, such as your credit card details, billing address, and transaction amount.
Website Usage Data: Non-identifying information about how you interact with our website, such as pages visited, time spent on site, and browser type. This is collected via cookies and similar technologies (see Section 4).

2. Membership Payments and Donations

When you become a member or make a contribution to the Spring Creek Civic Organization, your payment may be handled in one of the following ways:

Online, by card or PayPal: Payments made directly on our website are processed securely through Wix's payment infrastructure ("Wix Payments"), which may include the option to pay by credit/debit card or PayPal directly within our checkout.
Offline, by cash, check, or PayPal: Some members choose to pay by cash, check, or by sending payment directly to SCCO's PayPal account outside of our website. In these cases, an authorized SCCO volunteer or board member manually records your payment in our internal membership records so your membership stays accurate and active.

Regardless of how you pay:

Information Shared: For online payments, we do not directly store your full credit card details on our servers — the payment processor collects and handles that sensitive information on our behalf, and may also collect your name, billing address, and email for transaction purposes.
Our Use of This Data: In all cases, we keep a record that a payment was made, the amount, and the date, so we can maintain accurate membership records, activate your membership benefits, and provide you a receipt or confirmation.
Third-Party Privacy: Online payments are also subject to the privacy policies of Wix and, where applicable, PayPal. We encourage you to review their privacy policies for details on how they handle your data.

Membership dues may be a one-time payment or a recurring (auto-renewing) subscription, depending on the plan you choose. Contributions/donations are always one-time payments. Both are handled under the practices described above.

3. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used solely to support the mission of the Spring Creek Civic Organization:

Membership Management: To process your membership, maintain our membership roster, and provide member benefits.
Communication: To send you newsletters, event invitations, important neighborhood updates, and respond to your inquiries.

Active Members: We retain your membership and payment records for as long as you remain a member, and for a reasonable period afterward for our own recordkeeping and legal or tax purposes.
Incomplete Sign-Ups: If you begin the membership sign-up process but do not complete payment, we may retain the information you provided (such as your name and email) for a limited time so we can follow up and help you finish joining, including automated reminders about an unfinished checkout. This information is not treated as an active membership record.
Deletion Requests: You may request that we delete your personal information at any time by contacting us at scco@springcreekdfw.org, subject to any records we're required to keep for legal, financial, or organizational purposes.

7. Sharing Your Information

We will only share your information in the following limited circumstances:

With Your Consent: When you give us explicit permission to share specific information (e.g., if you sign up for a volunteer list that is shared with a committee chair).
For SCCO Operations: With authorized volunteers or board members who need the information to perform their specific duties for the organization (e.g., a committee chair needing a list of committee members).
Legal Requirements: When required by law, subpoena, or other legal processes.

8. Neighborhood Directory

SCCO is developing a neighborhood directory to help members connect with one another, expected in the coming months. Once launched, this feature will let members choose to share certain information — such as your name, address, and a contact email — so that other logged-in SCCO members can find and reach out to you. Participation will be optional: you'll be able to choose whether your information appears, and to update or remove your listing at any time.

Kids' Job Listings. The directory may also include an optional section where a parent or guardian can list their own child as available for informal neighborhood jobs, such as babysitting, dog walking, yard work, or pet sitting. If a parent or guardian chooses to submit this, we may collect the child's name, age, and the type of jobs they're interested in.

This information is provided voluntarily by a parent or guardian on their child's behalf — SCCO does not collect it directly from children, and only a parent or guardian should create or manage a listing for their child.
As with the rest of the directory, this information is only visible to other logged-in, verified SCCO members — never the general public.
A parent or guardian may request removal of their child's listing at any time by contacting us at scco@springcreekdfw.org.

We will update this Privacy Policy with further detail before the directory and kids' job listings feature go live.

9. Photography and Media

The Spring Creek Civic Organization (SCCO), including its Board members and volunteers, may take photographs and videos throughout the neighborhood and at SCCO-sponsored events. These visuals are captured to document community activities, highlight neighborhood beauty, and promote the mission and spirit of SCCO.

Usage: These photographs and videos may be used on the official SCCO website, in flyer communications, and on SCCO's social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter).
Consent: By attending SCCO events or being present in public areas of the Spring Creek neighborhood where photos are being taken, you acknowledge and agree that your image may be captured and used by SCCO for the purposes described above without compensation.
Requests for Removal: If you appear in a photo or video used by SCCO and wish to have your image removed, please contact us at scco@springcreekdfw.org with details of the specific image (e.g., website link, social media post date) and we will make reasonable efforts to address your request.

10. Links to Other Websites

Our website may contain links to external websites, such as local Dallas city resources, schools, or businesses. SCCO is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of these external sites. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party websites you visit.

11. Children's Privacy

Our website and membership programs are intended for adult residents of the Spring Creek neighborhood and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age of 13. This does not apply to information a parent or guardian voluntarily submits about their own child, such as through the Neighborhood Directory's optional kids' job listings feature described in Section 8 — that information comes from the parent or guardian, not the child. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information directly and without your consent, please contact us at scco@springcreekdfw.org so we can promptly review and remove it.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

SCCO may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
